DELHI-SOLAC
INC. is a major Canadian manufacturer specializing in mechanical
and coated steel tubing. In 1991, the company became a subsidiary
of Tubes Solac Ltd. and Cometic Technology Inc.
Tubes Solac Ltd. began its operations in April
1971 in Saint-Jérôme, Quebec. The plant occupied a surface area
of 9,000 square feet. Two expansions were carried out for a total
surface of 35,000 square feet for the manufacturing of mechanical
tubing.
Cometic Technology Inc. was founded in 1961 in
Delhi, Ontario by an American company called General Instruments
Inc. Before the merger, its manufacturing space of 100,000 square
feet and the rolling mills were used primarily for coated tubing.
By merging the two companies, DELHI-SOLAC
was able to transfer the production technology for mechanical
tubing to its Ontario plant. The combined sales forces of both
divisions have allowed DELHI-SOLAC
to penetrate the coated tubing market. Due to its sustained efforts
in research and development, DELHI-SOLAC
has added a colorless protective coating (acrylic lacquer) to
its coated tubing for extra protection and durability.
